Abstract:
This dataset contains nine frames of aerial photography acquired for the Barrow area between August 12-24, 1962. The original 9" x 9" black and white aerial photograph prints, at 1:10000 scale, were scanned at 1000 dpi and 1200 dpi, and are distributed in TIFF format. This dataset is part of a suite of photos covering the Barrow area for the last six decades, and will be useful for detailed visualization and analysis.
Purpose:
These are computer-generated images of aerial photographs in which displacements caused by camera orientation have not been removed. Distortions caused by topography have not been removed.
Supplemental_Information:
Filenaming convention for this dataset is place_'type-of-geocorrection'_year-&-source-type_frame.tif. The filenames for the nine frames are: brw_scan_1962p_11.tif, brw_scan_1962p_13.tif, brw_scan_1962p_15.tif, brw_scan_1962p_17.tif, brw_scan_1962p_19.tif, brw_scan_1962p_20.tif, brw_scan_1962p_21.tif, brw_scan_1962p_22.tif and brw_scan_1962p_25.tif.

Process_Description:
The 1962 aerial photograph prints were originally obtained by the U.S. Army Cold Regions and Engineering Laboratory (CRREL) and provided by Jerry Brown (Brown and Johnson, 1965). Eric Parrish at INSTAAR scanned them at 1000 dpi and 1200 dpi using a Microtek ScanMaker 9800XL scanner. FGDC-compliant metadata was then finalized.
